Students studying the Great Masters!

Once a student can do anything I give them to do, any setup no matter how hard, and I and they KNOW they can do it, then we go and study what the great Masters have left us! Each of them left us with a legacy of an understanding about how to 'see', and how to apply paint to a canvas. The students study these artists, and so when the student visualizes their own works, they can visualize any number of techniques to use to get what they as an artist want to get. Studying those who did what they did is vital to really move forward as an artists, and gain complete freedom from any box you are in. Exposing yourself to other understandings is a great joy.

This is Alain's study of Monet. It was  his first attempt to study another artist.

Here Alain is studying another Impressionist Master.
